All original stained glass panels can be encapsulated into double glazed units. This process involves preparing the glass by soldering a y-shape edge lead around the panel that will hold it in the centre of the unit. If needing any repairs, broken or cracked pieces are, therefore, matched and replaced. The glass is then cleaned and the lead polished ready for it to be encapsulated.
Any new commissions that are to be encapsulated will have been made with the correct edge lead ready to go straight inside the units.
If you are having new window frames fitted then all stained glass must now be encapsulated to meet current regulations. There are some exceptions to this rule i.e. If you are in a conservation area.
